1941 King Zephyr Special #266,119

This incredible instrument came to us through our good friend and valued saxophone technician and craftsman, George Borodi in Cleveland. He called us up when it came into his shop for an overhaul and said that the owner might consider selling it.  He did, we talked, we bought, that simple. Now we can make this amazing horn available  to you. If you are not fully familiar with the Special, this is the horn that King, after the war, re-branded as the "Super 20". Essentially the same horn less, sadly, the full pearls.

To run down the features, this horn has: a Sterling Silver neck, full pearls on all key touches, perfect lacquer, new pads, new felts, all new corks and new springs. But  more than a list of attributes, this horn looks and plays brand new. We try not to use the term too much (hard sometimes since we acquire more than our share of spectacular horns) but this saxophone is "Museum Quality" 100%. Whoever winds up with this instrument will have an heirloom than can, and should, be kept and handed down through the generations.

This horn and the few like it that we hold in our "collection" have created a problem for me. I truly love these horns and this and the other horns of other makers we have that are in the same condition as this Zephyr. I, of course, gear-head that I am,  lobby that we should keep them in an investment collection for the future. "Accounting" however thinks that they should be offered to the marketplace at prices that reflect their intrinsic value but not my reluctance to sell. She won, a recurring theme here at ThisOldHorn, and here is one example of my acquiescence. I suggest you grab it before I change my mind.

All our horns now ship in a ProTec style, zipper closure, hard sided, foam case  unless otherwise instructed. We recommend this case very highly and we love to ship in them because then we are confident there will be no damage.

However, if you feel that you must have an original, period trunk case (despite smells, condition, questionable protection for the instrument, etc.) we have them  available at no additional charge.

Have a look at these cases at: CASES or from the Home page under Accessories.

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS OR ANY OF OUR HORNS THAT YOU CALL US OR EMAIL SO THAT WE MAY DISCUSS THE INSTRUMENT AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE.

WE SHIP OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES ONLY BY FEDERAL EXPRESS, NO EXCEPTIONS.

NO RETURNS ARE ALLOWED ON INTERNATIONAL SALES.

WE ARE A SMALL BUT VERY HIGH QUALITY SELLER OF WIND INSTRUMENTS. WE GUARANTEE SATISFACTION WITH OUR INSTRUMENTS 100% OR YOUR MONEY BACK.
