A good straight Conn New
Wonder "Chu Berry" from 1925. The horn has received a recent
re-lacquer and looks pretty good good. It is brighter than an aged lacquer
but being a more modern finish will no doubt be more durable
than the older stuff. We are going to overhaul this horn, not
because it is in bad shape but rather because we just don't
want any horn to leavy here bearing any question as to the pads and springs and the only way we can
be certain of the instrument's quality is to do it ourselves. It
therefore will receive a full This Old Horn
Vintage
Overhaul that will last for many years.
It has a few of the usual small dents and
bumps from use but nothing worth repairing. The neck is in good
shape and has no evidence of a pull-down or repair.
In all, once done, this will be a great horn with that
inimitable Chu sound and feel. I've got one and I can use it side by
side with my Mark VI. If I had to give one up, I really don't
know which one it would be.
All our horns ship in a period trunk case
unless otherwise instructed. If you aren't crazy about dealing with
an early case (smells, condition, questionable protection for the instrument) we
have a great Chinese made, ProTec style, zipper, hard sided foam, case
available for an additional $105. We recommend this case very highly
and we love to ship in them because then we are certain there will
be no damage.
Have a look at these cases at:
