Our Current Offering Of
Trade-In & Modern Horns |
|
Although we
carry mostly for vintage horns,
those made before 1970, we regularly have customers who wish to trade their modern horn in on a vintage
one. Something we completely understand.
We, therefore, have found ourselves in the
modern horn business, like it or not, and have inaugurated this page to offer the
instruments that have found their way to our collection through
a trade. Some of these horns are new or very close to
it. Like our vintage horns, we will only allow the best to enter
this collection and we will service and protect each sale just
as we do with our vintage instruments. We will also guarantee
them 100% to please you or your money back. To see how that
works please take a look at our
return policies.
Just as with all our horns, you may purchase
with complete confidence that This Old Horn will support and
represent these offerings with our usual honesty and integrity.

this fine horn for him. However it isn't what he wanted. He

we just want back what we offered for it in trade. Take
advantage of the situation, make us whole and get a great deal
on a fabulous Yamaha, top-of-the-line tenor at a price that's
hard to beat. it's covered, of course, by our 100% Guarantee to

Phil
Barone Vintage Tenor This
silver plated beauty is the larger bore Vintage model with a
sound reminiscent of the legendary Conn 10M. This instrument is
new in the maker's case and has only in store playing time on
it. But i must admit that I put some of that time on it 'cause I
just love this horn. The key work is similar to the Selmer so
it's easy to play and the sound is wonderful. Phil's a good
friend of mine so I take pride in saying, he has a hell of a
horn for an amazing price. Without doubt, this is the best
bargain in the Sax business, bar none! $1,700 |

Phil Barone
Classic Soprano
While I'm basically a tenor player only,
I make an exception for these Phil Barone sopranos.
Basically a Mk VI copy it plays and sounds better than any Mark
VI Sop I've ever had in my hands. Depending on mouthpiece it has
a round pleasant tone (what I've always imagined Coltrane
thought he sounded like) and the response and intonation,
even in the upper register, is rock solid and easy.
This
brand new example in the maker's case is done in a vintage
patina but not matt, it has a lovely shine to the finish that
really sets off the vintage patina look. Personally, I kinda
hope no one buys this thing 'cause I'd like to keep it for
myself.
