A nice looking Mark from
1970 that plays absolutely wonderfully. Part of my job at This Old
Horn is to play all the instruments regularly to: A) just know
as much as possible about each horn, and, B) to track each
instrument's condition and readiness to play.
When I get to the
Mark VIs I usually start with this horn because I know that it
is so Mark VI "dead center" in sound - tone and timbre, volume
and amount of buzz. This old girl plays and sounds exactly like
you would expect a Mark VI to sound. I cannot think of an
attribute more attractive than consistency. A horn that is
reliable and always puts out the same sound for the same effort.
This sax is exactly that and I'll hate to see it go.
All our horns now ship in a ProTec
style, zipper closure, hard sided case
unless otherwise instructed. We recommend this case very highly
and we prefer to ship in them because we are
confident there will be no damage.
However, if you feel that you want an original, period trunk case, we have them
available at no additional charge.
Have a look at these cases at:
CASES or
from the Home page under
Accessories.
